Abstract: |
South West Archaeology Limited were asked to conduct an archaeological assessment of the former site of the Hoe Centre, Notte Street, Plymouth. Within the designated development area there is recorded evidence of buildings dating from the 1830s, these were however destroyed and demolished in the 1940s and replaced by the Hoe Centre (formerly the NAFFI building). However, a significant amount of the site may not have been disturbed by building footings and evidence of earlier occupation and use may survive, if more modern earth moving activity was minimal in parts of the site. |
