Abstract: |
In January 2012 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological observation and recording at No 123 Fairfield Road, Bow, London (NGR TQ 37185 83310). The monitoring was commissioned by Goldberg UK Ltd in association with a planning condition attached to planning permission for the residential redevelopment of the site. The archaeological monitoring was required during initial geotechnical test pitting in advance of the development. The site lies in the eastern part of Bow, London. It is located within an area to the south of the course of the Roman London - Colchester Road, and Iron Age and Roman evidence has been recovered from close by. Therefore the site had a potential for prehistoric and Romano-British archaeological remains. In the event the monitoring revealed deposits of 19th century origin, and evidence of previous truncation of parts of the site. |
