Abstract: |
Two of three planned evaluation trenches were excavated; one abandoned due to extensive concrete and modern obstructions. Natural gravels were exposed in the bases of both trenches, and natural deposits of Peat recorded to the east of the study site. Natural gravels were truncated to the east by a north-south aligned fluvially cut channel, interpretted as a former tributary of the River Lea, and a potential tree throw. Layers of alluvium sealed all features and were overlain in turn by considerable deposits of 20th century made ground. No archaeological features were recorded. |
