Abstract: |
The results of the assessment found the site to have been occupied by a tannery, built in 1720, on land immediately north of the main medieval north-south road adjacent to Egremont Castle. During the demolition of the tannery, in 1911, substantial masonry of possible medieval date was found. In 1925 the Old Castle Cinema was built on the west side, upon which there is no evidence of activity. |
