Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology carried out an evaluation to meet a condition attached to planning permission for the construction of a new children's centre and associated parking. Two trenches, comprising approximately 5% of the development area, were excavated. No archaeological features were recorded in either trench, although a modern land drain was noted in Trench 1. Made ground lay directly beneath topsoil and overlay natural clay geology in both trenches, although some patches of subsoil were observed in Trench 1. All artefacts recovered during the evaluation were of modern origin and have not been retained. |
