Abstract: |
Monitoring of groundworks at Ferry Farm, Butley in advance of the construction of a new extension to the rear and side of the existing house noted that the land had probably been extensively truncated prior to the historic construction of the house, with large sand quarry pitting noted very close by and the house itself appearing to be in a hollow excavated out of the side of the hill with somewhere in the region of 0.1m of soil removed above the present ground level at the southern foundation of the standing building. |
