Abstract: |
trial trenching did not reveal any significant archaeological features or deposits within this waterside site. The low lying waterside areas did reveal water logged silt and peat deposits. Palaeoenvironmental assessment suggests the peat is a freshwater sequence of Late Neolithic date, becoming brackish in the later prehistoric period but with some freshwater areas surviving until the Anglo-Saxon period |
