Abstract: |
Three trial trenches were excavated within the footprint of a proposed extension to the church. Romano-British remains including post holes, a ditch, pottery and tiles were the earliest deposits recorded. These indicated the existence of a Roman building of some status. A single undated adult inhumation and a scatter of disarticulated human bones were the only evidence of burials. Grave markers were absent from the site, with only a single memorial plaque dedicated to an individual who died in 1859 in evidence. [Au(abr)] |
