Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken as part of a planning condition ahead of mineral extraction. The RCHME had undertaken a Wolds Survey which had identified a series of linear features running across the site, these features were subsequently examined. Four ditches were revealed, three contemporary, one earlier. The earlier ditch was identified as being part of a prehistoric 'dyke' system, whilst the other three were identified as forming a possible Roman road that ran between York and Malton. [AIP] |
