Abstract: |
Monitoring of the construction of a single dwelling on land to rear of 171, High Street, an area of terraced gardens on an east facing slope, observed preparation works for a piling rig (removal of low brick walls and levelling of the upper terrace) and the examination of spoil from pile bores. Only late post-medieval deposits were encountered which suggested the existing terraces were formed through the deposition of material behind 19th century, or later, brick retaining walls. |
