Abstract: |
As part of an archaeological condition for the repair of two existing buttresses at The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Harlington, Bedfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the Diocese of St Albans to undertake a watching brief on the groundworks. The groundwork involved the excavation of two small, footing trenches at the north-western corner of the church. These were to accommodate wooden revetment to support the external wall of the northern isle while the Buttress repair is undertaken. Within this area no significant archaeological finds, features or deposits were revealed during the course of the monitoring programme. On the basis of these results, the risk that the development might encounter archaeological remains of significance may be considered to be Low for all periods |
