Abstract:
In March 2015 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological monitoring and recording at Kerrys Farm House, Kerrys Farm Lane, Cow Green, Bacton, Suffolk IP14 4HL (NGR TM 054 658) The monitoring was commissioned by Mr John Fallon in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning permission for the construction of a new garden room (Mid Suffolk Ref 3626/14), based on advice from Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service Conservation Team (SCC AS-CT). The site lies on the northern side of Kerrys Farm Lane at Bacton. It is proposed to build a new garden room extension to the property. The house lies within a medieval moated complex, adjacent to a grade II listed farmhouse of 16th century and later date (LB 280486). The Suffolk Historic Environment Record (HER) notes the archaeological importance of the site. The house lies within a medieval moated complex (HER BAC 007), and medieval and post-medieval finds have been made in the vicinity of the property (HER BAC 016). In the event the monitoring revealed no archaeological features or finds.
