Abstract: |
In April 2015 Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation on land at the School Bungalow, Clarendon Road, Haverhill, Suffolk CB9 8LL (NGR TL 666 450). The evaluation was carried out in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning approval for the proposed construction of five dwellings. It was required by St Edmundsbury Council, based on advice from SCC AS-CT (St Edmundsbury Planning Approval Ref. DC/15/0117/FUL). The Suffolk Historic Environment Record records that the site lies within an area of archaeological potential. Finds of Roman and medieval date have been made to the north east (HER HVH 021). Medieval remains have also been found more recently during archaeological investigations nearby (HER HVH 088). In the event the evaluation revealed modern (20th century) features including a land drain, a concrete man-hole surround and a disused power cable. No archaeological features or finds were revealed. |
