Abstract:		 The results of a desk-based assessment and archaeological monitoring carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) on land at the Town Hall, Great Torrington, Devon during groundworks associated with renovations of the existing building and a new extension with its associated infrastructure. The excavations revealed a number of archaeological features related to the construction and re-development of Torrington Town Hall and its associated grounds. Whilst it is possible that earlier features survive beneath the Town Hall building, those that were identified appear to relate primarily to post-medieval and modern activity.
