Abstract: |
The evaluation was to ascertain the level of preservation of structures associated with the Bilston Gas Works, a late Victorian development that survived in various forms into the mid 20th century. Also within the development area was a basin spur from the Birmingham Canal, and an area of supposed squatters' cottages associated with early colliery activity on the site. The majority of the trenches were targeted on specific features drawn on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey Map of 1888. |
