Abstract: |
Between the 19th February and 17th June 2016 Foundations Archaeology undertook a phased programme of archaeological investigations during groundworks associated with the redevelopment of Albion House, 77 Southgate Street, Gloucester. The archaeological works, which were undertaken subsequent to a previous archaeological evaluation within the site (Phase 1), consisted of two further phases of evaluation (Phases 2 and 3), a programme of mitigation (Phase 4) and a watching brief (Phase 5). The investigations have established that significant archaeological deposits are present within the site and that these are, in places, situated 0.50m (approximately 13.40m AOD) below Modern ground. |
