Abstract: |
Stratascan were commissioned by Exeter Archaeology to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development as a water/sewage treatment works and pipeline. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation undertaken by Exeter Archaeology. A gradiometer survey was carried out over a 2.1km length, 30m wide corridor (6.5ha) and a 3ha area as part of an archaeological investigation prior to the development of a water/sewage treatment works. The 30m pipeline corridor and the 3ha area have both revealed features that may be of archaeological origin. Substantial cut features of possible archaeological origin have been identified within the corridor Areas 2a, 3b and Area 4. A possible concentration of archaeological activity can be seen within the north and southwest corner of survey Area 4. Agricultural marks can be seen within the majority of the survey areas. Possible pits or discrete cut features have been identified within Areas 1, 3c-f and Area 4. |
