Abstract: |
On 23rd March 2009, Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) carried out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording during groundworks associated with the exposure of subsoil for a proposed temporary mineral stockpile at Splash Lake Lane, Wyton, Cambridgeshire. The programme of archaeological works was commissioned by Mick George Ltd. The site is situated immediately north of the village of Houghton, adjacent to the A1123 road which runs between Huntingdon and St. Ives. The River Great Ouse is located 500m to the south and the site is just inside the floodplain of the river. Removal of the topsoil revealed the remains of a ridge and furrow field system parallel to the modern road. No other archaeological remains were identified. |
