Abstract:		 Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Arthur Williams Consulting Ltd to undertaken an archaeological watching brief at Stratford-sub-Castle Primary School (centred on NGR SU 13113 32392) in advance of two extensions to the existing building. The site lay within the limits of a former Romano-British settlement (Sorviodunum), which may have become an Anglo Saxon burgh. The watching brief, which was maintained during the excavation of foundation trenches, demonstrated that the stratigraphic sequence comprised a topsoil and modern overburden, which overlay undisturbed fluvial gravel. No artefacts, archaeological deposits or features were recorded. The watching brief was undertaken 15th - 24th April 2015.
