Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 47 hectares of arable farmland near Dursley, Gloucestershire. The only probable archaeology identified on site relates to two field boundaries appearing on mapping dating to 1954-55. A number of positive linear responses appear, often alongside discrete anomalies. Further large numbers of discrete anomalies also appear in the central and northern areas of the site. One of the northern fields contains a wide strip of various positive features. These are all cut features of possible archaeological origin. Further linears in the central fields represent possible former field boundaries, but do not appear on any available historic mapping. Further features identified within the survey area consist of modern agricultural marks and land drains, magnetic disturbance and magnetic debris, modern services and natural geological or pedological variation. |
