Abstract: |
This report outlines the results of a watching brief carried out within the public toilets adjacent to Bootham Bar in St. Leonards Place, York (SE 60119 52219) on the 25th of March 2014. The work was undertaken on behalf of Healthmatic Ltd to establish the foundation depth of the current structure as a precursor to a planning proposal. An archaeological watching brief was required due to the high potential for archaeological remains in the vicinity of Bootham Bar related to its significance as an entry point for the city from the Roman period onwards. |
