Abstract: |
Historic building recording was undertaken at Ainscough Mill, in Burscough, during conversion to residential use. This corn grinding mill was initially constructed in about 1858, and was then enlarged on several occasions. Initially, the corn grinding was undertaken using traditional pairs of millstones; but it was later converted to a rolling mill. Evidence was located for three steam engines, but much of the fabric had been severely altered, so that the layout of the milling machinery was no longer discernible. The mill manager's house was also recorded. |
