Abstract:		 Watching briefs were kept on 12 February 2019 during the excavation of trenches for new poles on an overhead power line at Newmill Cottage near Stanley. From the pole at NO 08977 32526 two stay trenches and two 20m-long earth wire trenches were also excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered in any of the trenches.
