Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE), the contracting division of the Centre for Applied Archaeology (CAA), Institute of Archaeology (IoA), University College London (UCL) were commissioned by Paulo Coimbra of UK Power Networks to undertake an archaeological watching brief on the 4th April 2013, at Redfold Farm, Nutbourne, West Sussex. The watching brief involved monitoring the excavation of an underground high voltage cable route to a length of 179m by a width of 0.30m, with a maximum depth of 1m below the topsoil / surface level. Natural sandy clay geology (03) was encountered at a depth of 0.30m below topsoil surface level throughout most of the trench. No archaeology features were seen cutting into the natural geology, and there were no archaeological finds encountered in any of the contexts identified. |
