Abstract: |
In August 2013 Archaeology South-East (a division of the Centre for Applied Archaeology, UCL) carried out an English Heritage level 2 historic buildings record of a group of industrial structures centred around Creekside within the London Borough of Lewisham. The work was commissioned by CgMs Consulting Ltd and requested by the developers of the site, Quadrant Construction, to be addressed as a condition placed on planning consent (Ref. 12/82000) relating to a planning application for a mixed use scheme involving the partial demolition and conversion of existing buildings to provide residential units. Stylistically the buildings, particularly buildings A and C, are typical of mid - late 20th century industrial buildings of the area, of a very utilitarian character and characteristic of post-war light industrial regeneration in the vicinity. Cartographic evidence suggests that buildings A and C were erected between 1949 and 1955, while building B was constructed between 1967 and 1974. |
