Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained on the groundworks pertaining to a new residential development of fourteen new dwellings with associated access and services. The groundworks relating to the excavation of the foundations for House Plots 5-13 along with a site topsoil strip, ground reduction of the northern portion of the site access road and of the site compound area along with the excavation of two phases of site service trenching were archaeologically monitored. This watching brief did not identify any significant archaeological activity and there were no finds. The findings comprised a modern 20th century refuse pits and an undated ditch profile at the Swinderby Road frontage, which was not considered to be significant. The site deposit sequence consisted of a topsoil horizon which overlay natural horizons. |
