Abstract:		 Following the closure of HMP Aberdeen in 2014 Northlight Heritage conducted a review of archived materials (to level 2 standing building survey standard) on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service. The survey included a rapid desk-based research into readily available sources of information, with particular reference to drawings and photographs held by the Scottish Prison Service, RCAHMS and Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums. The work survey has identified a broad timeline and phasing for the prison through the use cartographic, photographic and historical documents evidence and also acts as a summary of the extensive archive of architectural drawings, documents and photographs relating to the prison.
