Abstract: |
Trial trenching was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on former industrial land once occupied by The Dove Dairy situated directly north of Stonewell Lane, Hartington. Derbyshire .This continued from phase 1 undertaken by Trent and Peak Archaeology. The evaluation reflected the previous results with no archaeological remains with exception to a post-medieval dry stone wall foundation The continued presence of a Paleochannel/ flooding was also shown, especially within trenches 8,10,11, and 14 located within the centre of the site. These revealed deep depths of alluvial as a result of continued flooding possibly creating a small lake of unknown date. |
