Abstract: |
Building Record of 1930's Sports Pavilion at St. John's Playing Field, York to Historic England Level 2 prior to its demolition. The Site became playing fields in 1937 and a small pavilion being built in the north east corner of the site in 1938. The present pavilion was built between late 1930s-late 1940's, first depicted on the 1948-1952 edition Ordnance Survey map. The central block is a brick two storey structure with two single storey wings either side. The building designed in simple Arts and Craft Style with timber covered veranda/loggia below half timber framed projecting first floor gable dormer. Seventy high resolution digital photographs were taken to record the exterior and interior of the building. |
