Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the course of repairs to a portion of the early-mid 20th century churchyard boundary wall. This portion of the existing boundary wall was demolished. This exposed an earlier 19th century churchyard boundary wall which was probably constructed at the same time as the present church on the site in the 1840s. this earlier wall was composed of both courses and random and uncoursed roughly, worked shaped and faced limestone blocks. There was also some evidence of later brick infilling and/or repair along with evidence for at lest four former west facing brick buttresses to this earlier wall. |
