Abstract: |
An archaeological survey was commissioned by English Heritage on behalf of the owner, John Seymour, Duke of Somerset, and undertaken from 1994 to 1998. The area covered by the survey consists of the Seymour estate at Berry Pomeroy, although some aspects of the research and report have been extended to cover the whole of Berry Pomeroy parish and Bridgetown, which almost certainly represents the former extent of the historic landholding in medieval and possibly earlier times. The survey formed part of a scheme funded by English Heritage to encourage landowners to make the archaeology in their keeping more accessible to the public, and to prepare a presentation of the survey material. |
