Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief conducted as part of phase 2 works at Hulands Quarry, County Durham. A heritage assessment and geophysical survey concluded the site generally had low archaeological potential. The stratigraphy of the site was a topsoil 0.1-0.5m in depth and a subsoil/colluvial deposit of blue boulder clay and silt up to 3m deep on the downslope overlying carboniferous limestone. No ancient archaeological features were identified, though building foundations associated with a nearby farm were found as was a dump of stone. |
