Abstract: |
Building recording consisted of a photographic survey of the interior and exterior of the buildings and analysis of their development and use. All photographs were taken with photographic scales visible in each shot where possible. The photographic survey was carried out with a Nikon D3200 digital SLR camera. Annotation of existing ground plans complemented the photographic record. The nature of building construction in the barns is vernacular and local in style and it seems likely that the buildings were constructed by reusing woodwork which may have come from demolished earlier buildings which stood near the site. It is possible that one vestige of an earlier building remains in the centre of the complex. The nature of building construction is vernacular and local in style and slightly ad hoc in nature giving the main element a domestic, house-like appearance. |
