Abstract:		 Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by CgMs Consulting (the Client) to carry out an archaeological field evaluation ahead of development work on land at Brookwood Farm, near Woking, Surrey, centred on National Grid Reference (NGR) 495500 157500. The County Archaeological Officer at Surrey County Council requested that an archaeological field evaluation be undertaken to further assess the archaeological potential of the Site, to support information already provided in a Heritage Assessment (CgMs 2011). The evaluation comprised 48 trenches (50m x 1.8m), providing a 5% sample of the proposed development area. The trenches revealed one post-medieval ditch, a number of undated shallow charcoal-rich pits and several modern field boundaries. The stratigraphic sequence was broadly consistent in each trench although the natural geology was mixed and varied from trench to trench. The fieldwork was carried out between the 6th to the 15th of June 2012.
