Abstract: |
A Standing Building survey was carried out on Fishponds Barn, Hastings, East Sussex. The survey showed that the building was originally constructed in the late 18th or early 19th century, as an agricultural building. The eastern part of the building was used as stables or a cowshed, and a later brick dividing wall created a separate store in the western part of the building. A watching brief was maintained on the excavation works during the conversion of the barn. No archaeological features were noted and very few artefacts were recovered, all of which appeared to date from the late 19th to early 20th century. |
