Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained during the groundworks associated with the construction of a rear extension at 1 Friars Walk, Lewes, East Sussex. The excavation for the concrete raft and associated ground reduction was carried out by hand to a maximum depth of 575mm into made ground. The remains of a later 19th century structure and boundary wall shown on the 1874 Town Plan was noted along with a small assemblage of 19th century finds and two fragments of 17th-18th century brick, otherwise no earlier archaeological finds or features were recorded. |
