Abstract: |
MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned by RPS, on behalf of the Kier, to undertake a programme of Level 2/3 historic building recording at Thornbrook House, Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire. This was required prior to works being undertaken on the building for demolition of the buildings on site. The constructional development of the building is fairly clear and can be seen with clarity upon inspection of the different roof ranges. Historic fixtures and fittings are fairly well preserved, in some rooms better then others, but the buildings conversion to a hotel has certainly necessitated the removal of these, as well as confusion to the floor plan. |
