Abstract: |
In February 2011 a watching brief was undertaken during the conversion of a range of 19th-century two-storey brick workshops in Tring for residential use. The site is located in Church Yard, close to the parish church and in the historic core of the town. Removal of the brick interior floors of the range, and subsequent excavations beneath the floors, revealed only make-up layers probably related to the construction of the existing buildings, and were too shallow to reach any earlier underlying deposits. It appears unlikely that the development has disturbed any evidence for earlier activity on the site. |
