Abstract: |
This report covers the results of an archaeological evaluation and a strip, plan and sample excavation that was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services at Church Farm, 83 Main Street, Higham on the Hill, Leicestershire CV13 6AH (NGR: SP 38228 25516), on behalf of Mr and Mrs Baggot during groundworks associated with the construction of a new detached dwelling and garage. Two trenches were excavated within the footprint of the proposed development; the area was then stripped and excavated. The work revealed medieval ditches, several cattle burials (adult and calf), pits and post holes. Pottery sherds dating from AD1200 – AD1475 were retrieved along with some slightly later sherds from within excavated features. |
