Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	As part of the Highcross Leicester Project – a major retail development in Leicester city centre – an archaeological excavation was carried out between 21st September 2005 and 18th August 2006 by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) in the area of Freeschool Lane. Following an extensive programme of trial trenching, five main areas were selected for excavation, revealing a complex sequence of archaeological deposits relating to settlement during the Roman, Anglo-Saxon, medieval, and post-medieval periods. The work was funded by Hammerson UK Properties and Hermes.This volume contains the specialist reports from excavations at Freeschool Lane. The site sequence can be found in ULAS Report No. 2009-140 (Vol. 1 of this report).
