Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on behalf of The Trustees of St. Oswald's Hospital on the Upper Tything, Worcester (NGR SO 8481 5565; WCM 101021) on a cable trench which passed through an area of archaeological sensitivity. The fieldwork took the form of inspection and recording of all the exposed surfaces within the trench. Post-excavation analysis comprised artefactual studies. The watching brief located archaeological deposits of the earlier hospital buildings. A variety of brick structures from the post-medieval period confirmed the location and existence of part of the 17th century hospital complex.
