Abstract: |
A Level 2 standing building survey was carried out on 11 February 2022. The U-shaped steading has been in use as a mill with extensive lade and millponds (all now infilled). There is evidence of the location of the waterwheel and apertures for connecting to interior mechanisms. There are hoppers within the central section of the mill suggesting that it was in use as a mill until recent times. The wings were both converted for animal use with concrete floors and walls, troughs and animal stalls and then areas of the WSW wing were in use as an office. Building 2 has a stone core of a building seen on the 3rd Edition OS map with a brick superstructure and Building 3 is a Dutch barn. |
