Abstract: |
Three evaluation trenches were excavated in an area of grassed garden and two car parks associated with the Castle Inn Public House (disused), Dennis Street, Hugglescote, Leicestershire. A brief overview of the 1903 Ordnance Survey map showed a building, possibly a stable located on the road frontage to the east of the public house in the eastern car park. Floor surfaces and associated features, including a brick wall and pit, are most likely to relate to this building, though some disparity is shown in their locations. Artefacts from these features have a terminus post-quem date of the early 20th century. A few modern features and services were also identified. |
