Abstract: |
A watching brief was mounted on the groundworks for two new residential dwellings and a detached garage. A short length of possible timber beam slot along with the cut of a pit were identified. Neither feature produced any finds so are undated. However, given the archaeological context of this development site, both features are considered to be medieval origin and on the margins of the medieval settlement of Middle Rasen Drax which lies to the east. This archaeological monitoring identified a possible former small linear beam slot and a pit. Both were undated as their respective fills did not produce any finds. However, given the archaeological context of this site and stratagrapically, they may possibly both be of medieval origin. Evaluation to the east in 2000 identified medieval settlement activity associated with Middle Rasen Drax. This site lay to the west and on the margins of this settlement. |
