Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated within the buildings comprising 60-62 Quay Street to ascertain the level of preservation of archaeology before the existing buildings had been erected, its nature, quality and extent The excavation revealed that in the medieval period no road or quay alignment existed in the medieval period along the alignment of modern Quay Street and that the medieval quay frontage was not continuous between the main part of the harbour and the landward end of the pier |
