Advancing FronTier Research In the Arts and hUManities (ATRIUM) is a European Commission funded project that aims to exploit and strengthen interconnections between leading European infrastructures: (DARIAH, ARIADNE, CLARIN, OPERAS) to improve access to a portfolio of state-of-the-art services available to researchers across countries, languages, domains and media. This project will build on a shared understanding and interoperability principles established in the SSHOC (Social Sciences & Humanities Open Cloud) cluster project and other previous collaborations.

The goal of the project is to make groundbreaking contributions to the consolidation and expansion of services, including data services, specifically in the field of archaeology. ATRIUM’s main objectives are to:

  1. Enhance Access by enhancing the quality of metadata in existing catalogues and repositories;
  2. Make Research Widely Available by reaching diverse communities across Europe, with a particular focus on citizen science and people with disabilities;
  3. Create Workflows so that researchers can best learn how to apply digital methods to their work;
  4. Facilitate Training through a number of project initiatives such as ATRIUM Skillset Assessment, ATRIUM Bridge, and ATRIUM Curriculum;
  5. Establish a Peer Review Framework to maintain research outputs essential for building and maintaining research infrastructures;
  6. Strengthen Data Management Practices by establishing a smooth flow of data across various services.

The project is a collaboration between DARIAH (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities), OPERAS (Open Access in the European Area through Scholarly Communication), CLARIN ERIC, Ariadne Research Infrastructure, University of Sheffield, Prisma Cultura S.r.l., Goeteborgs Universitet, University of South Wales, Laboratorio Nacional De Engenharia Civil, Idryma Technologias Kai Erevnas, The Cyprus Institute, Universite De Tours.
