| Title | Hornsea Offshore Windfarm. The Samian Pottery (Wessex Site 110491) |
| Description | A small collection of 55 sherds of samian with a total weight of 769g (1.167 rim EVEs) was submitted for identification and dating. Samian was recovered from 39 contexts from six different areas/plots across the study area. The quantities are small, and insufficient to allow for any statistical or functional analyses. The presence of sherds of these quantities of samian can be seen to represent evidence of the low level of samian consumption commensurate with a rural settlement predominantly based on an agrarian economy (Willis 2005, section 8.2.6). |
