This collection comprises images, a site plan, spreadsheet data and a survey statement from a trial trench evaluation undertaken by Archaeology South-East in January 2018 at Land East of Aldeburgh Road, Aldringham, Suffolk.
Ten trenches were excavated across the 1.5ha site consisting of arable fields and a paddock. Eight of these contained archaeological remains, comprising ditches and pits, with Trenches 1 and 10 being devoid of features. Twenty-five linear features were recorded forming a system of field boundaries of indeterminate date, with fifteen interspersed pits, one of which was positively dated to the Early Iron Age. A small assemblage of Iron Age and 10th- to 12th-century pottery was recovered from the field system, as well as fire-cracked flint, animal bone and post-medieval ceramic building material.
