Almagro 50 fabric |
---|
Visual characteristicsA fairly hard, rough sandy fabric containing small white inclusions of limestone, buff (7.5YR 7/4) colour throughout. |
PetrologyWe have examined one sample which shows frequent inclusions of limestone and quartz, with a few grains of pyroxene and flecks of mica. The pyroxene is significant and could suggest an origin not far removed from an outcrop of basic igneous rocks. Basalt outcrops occur in a long strip inland along the length of the Algarve (Peacock & Williams, 1986: Class 22). |
