Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Overview

Postcard from Athens

The CSA Propylaea Project was intended to produce a stone-by-stone CAD model of the Propylaea. The project was brought to a halt, however, before completion. As a result, the documents here do not include a CAD model of the entire building but various models of portions of the building and associated materials. Since, at the end of the day, the project produced as much information about survey and analytic methods and techniques as about the building itself, much of the material here is about those methods and techniques. Thus, there are items here concerning surveying, photogrammetry, CAD work, and so on. In addition, there are articles in the CSA Newsletter concerning many of the methods and techniques used.

The archive consists of a number of webpages and downloadable files originally published on the Propylaea project website:

  • 14 HTML pages with illustrations
  • A database of photographs of the propylaea, from close ups of the walls to the area surrounding the Propylaea
  • 474 photographs of the Propylaea
  • The survey database
  • The survey notebooks - scans of the handwritten pages of the field notebooks
  • CAD files modelling different elements of the building

These are available via the downloads pages.
